

On the morning of October18, 2012, the fourth CAER international annual Conference with the theme of “Transforming China’s agriculture and rural sector: Challenges and Opportunities” was held in Beijing.
This conference was sponsored by CRDP, CAER, CAU and IFPRI and co-sponsored by China's Agricultural Economic Association and Emerald Publishing Group. The president of CAU and more than 70 specialists and experts in agricultural economics from 13 countries attended the conference.
The vice executive secretary of CRDP, the chief editor of CAER, professor Xin Xian, Qin Fu, and Dr. Chen Zhigang from IFPRI delivered the welcome remarks. The associate editor of CRDP, Guo Pei presided over the opening ceremony.
The president of CAU, professor Ke Bingsheng, adjunct professor Hans Binswanger and other famous professors from other well-known universities delivered speeches concerned with the challenges for food security, India's agricultural structure transformation, Rural non-agricultural department and its development prospect, agricultural trades and China food security, China's food prices and inflation, etc.
The conference lasted the whole day of October18th till the morning of 19th, including 7 topics: agriculture and grain production, urban-rural development, agriculture and food consumption, rural finance, food security, the willingness to pay, and resources and environment. 62 high level academic papers from University of Minnesota, Cornell University, Purdue University, University of Kentucky, Swiss Agricultural University, Wageningen University, Nanyang Technological University, James Cook University, University of Tsukuba, CAU, Tsinghua University, etc. were discussed. The latest research achievements of the experts and scholars would help solve the challenges and problems in China agriculture and rural development.
CAER is an academic journal published by Emerald in association with CRDP and CEM with a public offering, and has been accredited for SSCI (Social Science Citation Index) and SCIE (Science Citation Index Expanded).
